School guard accused of raping students

CLEVELAND — Police said a security guard at a Cleveland high school raped multiple students.

Authorities said the 29-year-old guard is charged with rape and is being held in jail on $300,000 bond. A spokeswoman for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District told Cleveland.com the security guard is on unpaid leave pending the outcome of the case.

Driver parking van kills 1, injures 6

NEW YORK — Police said a driver trying to parallel park on a New York City street lost control of his van and struck a crowd of pedestrians, killing one person and injuring six others.

It happened shortly before 7 p.m. Monday in Manhattan’s Chinatown.

Former teacher pleads to bomb-making

NEW YORK — A former New York City high school math teacher and his twin brother have admitted to stockpiling explosive materials and paying students to help them make bombs.

Christian Toro and Tyler Toro, both of the Bronx, pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court Monday to federal explosive charges.

The 28-year-old brothers were arrested in February after a bomb threat was called into a Harlem charter school by students. Christian shortly resigned from the school, and prosecutors said school officials discovered bomb-making instructions on his laptop.
