Student shot, killed outside school

PROVIDENCE — A 15-year-old student has been shot and killed outside a Rhode Island high school on just the second day of the academic year.

Providence Police Chief Col. Hugh Clements said the teen died after he was shot outside the Providence Career and Technical Academy Wednesday afternoon following a fight with another teen.

Times grants anonymity to official

NEW YORK — The New York Times took the unusual step of granting anonymity to a senior Trump administration official to write a searing column that said people who work for the president are trying to protect the country from his worst impulses.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders calls it a “new low” for the Times and said the newspaper should apologize and the source should resign.


Man charged with cyberstalking

LOS ANGELES — A former NASA contractor who allegedly threatened to publish nude photos of seven women unless they sent him other explicit pictures has been arrested at his Los Angeles home.

Richard Bauer was arrested Wednesday.

Prosecutors said Bauer contacted some victims through Facebook and got them to reveal information he could use to reset their online passwords. He allegedly got other victims to install computer malware that allowed him to obtain email and website passwords.
