Two killed in crash identified

ABBOTSTOWN — Authorities have identified two people killed in a two-vehicle crash in central Pennsylvania last week that also critically injured a third person.

Police in Adams County said a car heading south on Carlisle Pike at high speed at about 9 p.m. Friday went out of control in Hamilton Township and traveled across the road, striking a sport utility vehicle.

Coroner Pat Felix said 22-year-old Gretchen Gebhart of Littlestown, who was driving the southbound vehicle, died of blunt force injuries. She wasn’t immediately identified due to fire damage from the crash, but was later identified through dental records.

A passenger in the SUV, 55-year-old Wesley Griffis of Gardners, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 34-year-old driver remains in critical condition.
