Yanoshak commits to Notre Dame

Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic senior defensive end/tight end Andrew Yanoshak, who received a preferred walk-on offer to play football at Notre Dame on Dec. 22, accepted that offer Thursday afternoon.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank God for blessing me with the gift to play football. I would like to thank my family for their consistent support and all the coaches and teammates I’ve had over the years for teaching me how to play the game,” Yanoshak wrote on his Twitter account. “I would like to thank every college that has invested time into recruiting me. Finally, I would like to thank the Notre Dame football coaching staff for believing in me. With that being said, I am committing as a PWO to the University of Notre Dame!”

Yanoshak, who is 6-foot-2 inches and 235 pounds, was named to the Pa. Football Writers’ All-State team the last two seasons and had 20 sacks as a junior.
