Misiura-Seilhamer connection too much for Valley

HOUTZDALE — Glendale’s Garret Misiura threw two touchdown passes to Baine Seilhamer within 10 seconds of each other in the first quarter against Moshannon Valley on Friday night at CNB Bank Stadium.

The touchdown passes sparked the Vikings to a 42-0 mercy-rule romp to ruin the Black Knights’ homecoming night in the 55th meeting of the rivals.

The 2-3 Vikings, who snapped a three-game losing streak, scored two touchdowns in the first, second and third quarters. They rolled up 459 total yards, including Suds Dubler’s 183 rushing yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns.

Sequence of the game: After Misiura threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Seilhamer 1:50 into the game, the Vikings recovered the squibbed kickoff. Misiura threw a 37-yard TD pass on the next play.

Play of the game: It was a 45-yard TD pass that didn’t count because it was nullified of a personal foul. Misiura scrambled left, completed a pass on the sideline to Seilhamer, who cut the whole way across the field for the score.

Player of the game: Dubler had 10 carries that gained 10 or more yards, including a 36-yarder on his final carry. He also probably led the Vikings in tackles.

Unsung heroes: The Glendale offensive line.

Most vital statistic(s): The Vikings rushed for 313 yards.

Glendale coach Dave “Spank” Trexler: “One of the things that we want to try to do is work fast. We’re still making a lot of mental mistakes that we need corrected, but I think we showed what can happen when we work together. We really wanted to come out of the gate fast, and I think we did. But we can’t be satisfied with that.”

Mo Valley coach Mike Keith: “We can’t give up those (big) plays. You can’t give up two passes like that and win the game. We let (Seilhamer) get behind us. That can’t happen.”

Dubler on his performance: “I think I did pretty well. As a team, we definitely did really well. There were a lot of big plays. Garret just airs it out and Baine comes up with plays.”

Notable: Mo Valley has a 34-20-1 lead in the series. … Glendale was penalized 10 times for 106 yards. … The Knights reached the Glendale 2 on the first series of the second half, but Misiura recovered a bad snap over Kephart’s head.

Next Friday: Glendale visits Juniata Valley; Moshannon Valley visits Tussey Mountain
