HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers’ 2020 season is off to a rocky start.

After falling to Baldwin of the WPIAL in the opener, the Tigers were manhandled by Musselman, W. Va., 43-7, in Game 2 Friday night at Tiger Stadium.

Musselman running back Blake Hartman scored four times and became the school’s all-time rushing leader with more than 5,200 yards in a stellar career that still has several games left. The 6-foot, 220-pounder has committed to play at Lehigh University.

Musselman scored twice in the first four minutes and led 29-0 after one quarter. The mercy rule was in effect the entire second half.

Player of the game: Easy — Hartman with four TDs (3, 39, 40, 4) and 230 yards rushing on 20 carries.

Unsung hero(es): The Musselman defense held the Tigers to 49 total offensive yards and seven first downs.

Most useless statistic: The visitors were penalized 11 times for 123 yards.

Musselman coach Brian Thomas: “Hartman is the best skill player in West Virginia. Lehigh is getting a great one. Our goal was to jump out fast after losing to Martinsburg last week — and we did.”

Hollidaysburg coach Homer DeLattre: “We’ve got to learn to start better. We’ve got to practice harder and things will get better. Musselman has a great team.”

Musselman star Hartman: “The lines are the greatest. Ever since my freshman year they’ve been great. I couldn’t do it without them.”

Notable: Hartman received the game ball in the postgame team huddle. … Musselman is ranked No. 7 in West Virginia. … The Tigers avoided the shutout when Evan Brozenich returned a punt for 55-yard touchdown late in fourth. … Both teams were supported by small crowds.

Records: Hollidaysburg (0-2); Musselman (2-1).

Next week: Hollidaysburg travels to Palmyra (District 3).
