Bartolini gets best of ’Dogs

SALTSBURG– Claysburg-Kimmel’s 2019 football season came to an end after a 39-14 loss against Saltsburg in a District 6 Class 1A football playoff game on a chilly but almost windless Saturday night at Saltsburg High School.

Seth Musselman rushed for 55 yards and a 12-yard touchdown run that opened the scoring. Kobe Harr added a 32-yard touchdown run later in the opening period. He led the Bulldogs with 71 rushing yards.

“This team and this season was a crazy roller-coaster ride, with all the adversity that we went through throughout the course of the year,” Claysburg-Kimmel coach Matt Bilchak said. “I was proud of the way that we’ve handled the situations. Through the good times and the bad I was proud that we’re developing the leadership that we need to develop into a consistently winning program.”

Claysburg-Kimmel quarterback Corey Chamberlain : “Our first quarter was great. We were able to sustain drives. We had all the momentum on our side. (And) just like that, it changed.”

Angelo Bartolini: “Saltsburg has always been a second-half team for as long as I have played. So I wasn’t worried at all (about falling behind early). I just knew we were going to come out in the second half and play our best.”
