Westmont routs FH

SIDMAN — A powerful running game by Westmont Hilltop was just too much for the Forest Hills football team to handle Friday night.

The Hilltoppers carried the ball 46 times and picked up 484 points on the ground as the Rangers dropped their eighth game of the year, 55-26.

Play of the game: In the first quarter, Westmont Hilltop running back Stefen Dean plowed through the line and burst into the end zone on a 48-yard score. Dean, who boasts a 6-foot-3, 265-pound frame, carried two defenders on his back as he crossed the goal line.

Player of the game: Westmont Hilltop running back Hudson Holbay who carried the ball 12 times for 161 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Unsung hero: Westmont Hilltop running back Mason Muto, who ran the ball 12 times for 135 yards and collected two touchdowns.

Defensive play: Forest Hills defensive back Damon Crawley intercepted Connor Polacek’s pass and returned the ball 81 yards to the end zone in the third quarter.

Special moment: Joseph Wise, who is a player with special needs for the Rangers, was given the ball for the 2-point conversion following Crawley’s 31-yard score in the fourth quarter. After dropping the exchange with quarterback Zach Myers, he rushed the ball into the end zone and was congratulated by both sides after scoring.

Most vital statistic: Westmont Hilltop only threw the ball twice, with one of its passes being intercepted for a touchdown. The Hilltoppers kept the ball on the ground and ran with ease for the entirety of the night.

Westmont Hilltop coach Pat Barron: “(Forest Hills) tried to take away our toss early. Mason (Muto) had a big night for us in the fullback spot to try and open things up for us.”

Westmont Hilltop running back Mason Muto: “After last year and taking two tough losses to them, we just wanted to come in and get a victory. We got our payback from last year.”

Forest Hills coach Justin Myers: “We came in thinking we could compete against them. We knew on offense that we couldn’t make any mistakes, and we had to score every time we had the ball just to be in the game.”

Notable: It was the first time Westmont Hilltop defeated the Rangers in Sidman since 1995.

Records: Westmont Hilltop (6-3); Forest Hills (1-8).

Next week: Westmont Hilltop hosts Cambria Heights; Forest Hills travels to Penn Cambria.
