JV’s Rupert, Hensor air it out against MV

ALEXANDRIA — Juniata Valley’s offense had a precise aerial attack Friday night, and it was in large part due to seniors playing their last regular season home game.

Jacob Hensor and Caden Rupert combined for 200 yards on six completions as the Green Hornets pulled away for a 44-21 win over Moshannon Valley.

Hensor had four touchdowns while Rupert was 19-for-27 for 313 yards and six scores.

Play of the game: Hensor’s 84-yard TD catch stopped Mo Valley’s chances at a comeback.

Player of the game: Rupert went 19-for-27 for 313 yards and six touchdown passes.

Unsung hero: Hensor proved to be huge on defense, too, coming up with two interceptions.

Most vital statistic(s): The Black Knights turned the ball over four times — three on interceptions.

Juniata Valley Coach Bill Musser: “The senior group has pretty much all grown up together. They’re all good friends. They enjoy being around each other. They’ve been with me for four years, and I can’t ask for more out of them. Anytime you can send your seniors out with a win, they’ve earned it. I’m glad it happened.”

Moshannon Valley Coach Michael Keith: “We gave up big plays. They’re a lot faster than we are. The best thing about tonight is we fought back. We kept playing football. We made some plays offensively we haven’t able to do so in the past.”

Rupert: “(Hensor)’s an incredible athlete. He’s 6-1, long arms, his catch rate is insane. All I have to do is get him the ball, and he’ll make a play.”

Hensor: “He’s definitely a great QB. I got to give credit to the wide receivers blocking, the line blocking. Just giving him time to throw the ball.”

Notable: It was JV’s homecoming night. … Joseph Bacher was 12-for-127 on the ground for the Knights. … Moshannon Valley outrushed the Hornets, 202-96. … Lady Hornet basketball standout Halee Smith was crowned homecoming queen.

Records: Moshannon Valley is 2-6 in the ICC and overall while Juniata Valley is 6-2 in the ICC and overall.

Next week: Moshannon Valley hosts Mount Union and Juniata Valley travels to Glendale.
