Penns Valley posts another strong win

SPRING MILLS — Fresh off an impressive victory over Bald Eagle Area last week, the Penns Valley football team welcomed in another strong program in Central.

Penns Valley quarterback Aaron Tobias lit it up again, posting 334 yards through the air and six more touchdown passes en route to the 41-21 victory over the Dragons.

Player of the game: Penns Valley’s Aaron Tobias was the player of the game as he finished with 334-yards through the air and six touchdown passes to go along with the win.

Unsung hero: The Dragons’ quarterback, Braden Kitt, kept his team in the game for almost three full quarter before Penns Valley went on two fourth quarter scoring runs. He went 16-23 for 234 yards and two touchdowns

Most vital statistic: The Central running game was held to just 17 yards rushing.

Penns Valley coach Martin Tobias: “I was really proud of the defense tonight. We had a few break downs that resulted in a few big plays for them (Central). But overall I thought we played very sound, especially against the run. We were concerned about their running game coming into this week.”

Central coach Dave Baker: “We stayed with them for a while. But around the fourth quarter they pretty much took command. They’re (Penns Valley) a good team. I think our kids thought they were better than Clearfield. Clearfield, we had a better chance to win, and here they were a better team than us.”

Notable: The Rams’ offensive line allowed Tobias a perfect start completion-wise as he went 7-of-7 to start the game. The line also made holes for the running game as teammate Seth Baney broke through for 65 yards rushing.

Records: Central (2-2); Penns Valley (3-1).

Next week: Central travels to Bald Eagle Area next Friday while Penns Valley takes to the road to battle Huntingdon.
