Penn Cambria postion already posted
From Mirror reports
Penn Cambria has been planning for John Franco’s departure for the past week.
According to the school’s superintendent, William Marshall, the position of head football coach was posted on Feb. 5 internally, but Penn Cambria has yet to recieve any internal applications.
Franco officially became Tyrone’s coach Tuesday when the Tyrone Area School Board voted 9-0 to approve his application for the position. Franco had coached Penn Cambria the past two seasons and went 4-16, though the Panthers improved from 0-10 to 4-6 the past two years.
Marshall said the Penn Cambria job was posted outside the school district on Wednesday and that the application deadline is March 1. The posting can be found on the school’s website.
Franco vouched for an inside candidate during his interview with the Mirror Tuesday but declined to give his name.
“There’s a great young coach there we started mentoring, and they have a heck of a ninth-grade class coming in,” Franco said. “In a couple years, they are going to be formidable and things can really turn around.”
Marshall said he’d like to see the position filled by the school’s March 19 board meeting.
