Clearfield eliminated; Richland wins
SLIPPERY ROCK — The 2018 football season came to an end on Saturday for the Clearfield Bison, which lost to Erie Cathedral Prep, 55-21, in a PIAA Class 4A first-round matchup.
Clearfield fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter and was down, 35-14, at halftime. The Bison got a 1-yard touchdown run from Isaac Rumery and a 2-yard touchdown pass from Rumery to Spencer Graham in the opening frame.
Clearfield, who entered the game unbeaten, managed one more score, a fourth-quarter touchdown run of 12 yards from Caleb Freeland.
The Bisons finished with five turnovers in the game, and the defense gave up 570 yards of total offense to Prep.

Richland rebounded from a 12-0 deficit to defeat Ligonier Valley and win the District 6 Class 2A championship at Mansion Park.
The Rams got an 8-yard touchdown run and a touchdown pass from Kellen Stahl.
Aaron Tutino, the all-time Pennsylvania high school football leader in touchdown catches, added two more to his total before leaving the game with an injury after making a long catch that was negated by penalty.
Richland’s first touchdown came on a 23-yard pass from Joe Hauser to Trevor Tustin.

Apparently Sunday isn’t just for the NFL.
Because of the recent winter storm, there are four high school football teams from District 5-6 that are playing today around central Pennsylvania because their fields were deemed unplayable Saturday.
Northern Cambria will take on United at Mansion Park at 11 a.m. in the District 6 1A semifinals. The winner gets Juniata Valley next weekend in the championship. The Colts were supposed to play at Penns Manor High School Saturday night.
Shade and Farrell will follow at Mansion at 3 p.m. in a PIAA 1A first-round game. State College is playing Delaware Valley at 2 p.m. at Danville in a PIAA 6A first-round game. The Little Lions were supposed to play at Hazelton High School on Saturday.
Bald Eagle Area and Bedford, a PIAA 3A first-round game which was supposed to be played Friday night at Windber, is being played tonight at Mansion Park at 7.
