Franco officially hired at PC

Penn Cambria School Board members voted unanimously Tuesday night to approve the hiring of John Franco as head varsity football coach.
Franco of Altoona will receive $6,948 for his coaching position, which was approved retroactively, beginning May 3.
Board members also approved the creation of a new position, naming Franco, the former Tyrone and Altoona football coach, district fitness center coordinator at an annual stipend of $6,000.
Franco, who will serve as an assistant to the district’s athletic director, will begin the new position July 1.
Also at the meeting, board members voted to hire Richard Hatch and Daniel Bender both of Altoona to assistant varsity football coach positions. Both will be paid $3,958 for their work. Both Hatch and Bender have coached with Franco in his previous stops.
