So. Huntingdon coach steps down
From Mirror reports
Craig Sellers, who had previously coached at Huntingdon, stepped down as the varsity girls basketball coach at Southern Huntingdon following the team’s 65-60 overtime loss to Williamsburg on Thursday, Jan 2.
“Coach Sellers did resign on Friday,” confirmed Southern Huntingdon athletic director Tracy Cornelius in an email after being asked if Sellers had stepped down. “He was tired of being yelled at by parents over playing time.”
Southern Huntingdon is 8-3.
There were accounts sent to the Mirror that Sellers had suffered more than just verbal abuse from parents, but Cornelius said that was not true.
“He did not have anything thrown at him, but he was allegedly given grief after games by parents several times over the past two weeks, the most recent being the game at Williamsburg on Thursday,” Cornelius said. “He simply told me, ‘it isn’t worth it.'”
Shawn Young, who had been serving as Sellers’ assistant, has been appointed interim head coach for the remainder of the season according to Cornelius.
