Lady Pirates will get host Forest Hills in final

SIDMAN — The Williamsburg girls basketball team opened up its season Friday night with a 53-45 win over Indiana at the Forest Hills Tournament in high school action.

The Lady Pirates will play Forest Hills in the tourney final Saturday.

Williamsburg, which got 17 points from LeeAnna Royer, outscored Indiana 25-13 in the fourth for the win. Teammate Levada Gorsuch added 11 points.

Indiana got 10 points from Laken Kugler.

In the other tourney opener, Forest Hills beat Juniata Valley, 50-18, behind 21 points from Aivah Maul.

The Lady Green Hornets, who trailed 19-1 after one quarter, got 10 points from Aubrey Anderson.

NBC drops opener

NEW PARIS — The Northern Bedford boys fell to host Chestnut Ridge, 78-41, in the first round of the Thomas Automotive Tip-off Tournament.

Justin Whysong scored 28 points to lead the Lions, who will play Everett, a 65-52 winner over Bedford, in the championship game Saturday. Wesley Horsh scored 23 for Northern, which meets Bedford in the consolation game.

Both the consy and championship will be held at Northern Bedford County High School.
