Gibson’s big game sparks Lady Lions

HARRISBURG — Nevaeh Gibson scored 14 points and pulled down 18 rebounds Wednesday night in leading the Altoona Area High School girls basketball team to a 41-22 win at Bishop McDevitt.

The Lady Lions, up 16-1 after one quarter, improved to 6-2.

Claar hits 1,000th

CLAYSBURG — Rebekah Claar went over the 1,000-point milestone for Claysburg-Kimmel in the Lady Bulldogs’ 60-50 loss to Shanksville-Stonycreek.

Claar finished with 26 points for Claysburg, which dropped to 5-5.

Sarah Helsel added 12 for C-K, which was outscored, 20-6, in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Red Devils got 14 points from Marlow Soyka and 10 points from Corinne Markovich.
