Longenecker helps Lady Dragons get 10th win

MARTINSBURG — Katheryn Longenecker delivered 18 points to help Central down Huntingdon, 49-34, in high school girls basketball action on Friday.

The Lady Dragons improved their record to 10-4 overall. They led, 31-29, before pulling away in the fourth quarter.

MECHANICSBURG — Playing for the first time in more than two weeks, Altoona fell behind 28-10 in the first half and lost to Cumberland Valley, 56-40.

Nevaeh Gibson led the Lady Lions with 12 points, and Adalynn Cherry scored 11.

Julie Jekot scored a game-high 17 points for Cumberland Valley, now 15-1.

The Lady Huskies, up 28-15 at halftime, improved to 6-8.

The Lady Lions, who fell to 1-9, got 13 points from Belle Bosch.

STATE COLLEGE — The Blair County Christian girls ended up in fifth place in the Allegheny Christian Athletic Association Tournament after a 29-25 win over DuBois Christian at the C3 Sports Complex.

Maddie Snyder scored 14 points for the Lady Bobcats, who improved to 15-2 overall.

Sarah McCoy had 12 points, but the Blair girls lost in the first round on Thursday, 32-29, to Juniata Christian.
