Altoona boys fall in opener

H.S. basketball

CARLISLE — The Altoona Area High School boys basketball team dropped its first game of the season, falling to Carlisle, 83-45, on Friday night.

Dylan Young led the Herd with 25 points. Colin Lear scored 14 points for Altoona, and Ashton Bardell had 10.

Carlisle jumped out to a 21-10 lead after one quarter and extended the lead to 45-23 at the half.

BCC boys cruise

DUNCANSVILLE — The Blair County Christian boys basketball team improved to 3-1, thanks to a 67-20 win over Huntingdon Calvary Christian.

Davis Dull and Ean McCarty each scored 15 points for the Bobcats, who led 32-8 after one quarter and 46-14 at the break. Connor Dull chipped in with 12 points.

Blair girls prevail

DUNCANSVILLE — Maddie Snyder, Melanie Miller and Sarah McCoy combined for 41 points in leading the Blair County Christian girls basketball team to a 55-16 win over Huntingdon Calvary Christian.

The Lady Bobcats, now 2-0, got 14 points each from Miller and Snyder. McCoy chipped in with 13 points in a game BCC led, 25-6, at halftime.

GC boys lose in OT

The Great Commission School boys basketball team came up short in a home game against DuBois Christian Academy, falling 53-49 in overtime.

Gabe Hoover led DuBois Christian with 22 points, and Devon Thomas scored 13 for the Eagles, who took the overtime period, 7-3, to earn the win.

Steven Karageanes poured in a game-high 32 points for Great Commission, Owen Hildebrand scored 12 points, and Ethan Karageanes supplied nine assists for the Bears.

DUBOIS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (53): Hoover 21, Mowrey 8, Thomas 13, Powell 4, Whitaker 2, Smith 5.
