College signing: Kyle Ruggery: Juniata basketball

Name: Kyle Ruggery

High school: Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic

Hometown: Duncansville

Sport: Basketball

Position: Point guard

College choice: Juniata

Other colleges considered: Washington & Jefferson, Seton Hill

Why I picked Juniata: “I picked Juniata for the great education, as well as great athletics and coaching, while still being close to home.”

Greatest high school achievement: “PIAA Class 2A state runner-ups.”

Coach Chris Drenning’s quote: “Kyle is such a great all-around guard and will bring so much to the team at Juniata. He’s a very good defender, has great range on his 3-point shot, and with his understanding of the game, he was born to be a college guard. He and his teammates have set a standard of outstanding work ethic and dedication for our program, and his leadership skills will certainly be a valuable asset to the Juniata program. It will be a difficult task for us to try and replace all the things he brought to our program, but we are very anxious to see him succeed at the next level.”

How I got my start playing basketball: “Both my parents played growing up, and I just started playing around preschool.”

Favorite college growing up: Duke

Other interests: Fishing, hunting, video games, running

What getting to play in college means to me: “I find this as an opportunity to extend my athletic ability and basketball career in a positive way, hopefully winning some championships with my teammates.”

Probable college major: Business/Accounting

Parents: Gina and Jay Ruggery
