Bellwood girls playing in Ebensburg

The Bellwood-Antis High School girls basketball team won’t have to travel too far for its PIAA Class 2A quarterfinal game on Friday night.

Sites were announced for Friday’s games, and Bellwood, the two-time state champion, will be playing District 6 runner-up Penns Manor at Central Cambria High School in Ebensburg at 7 p.m. Bellwood, the District 6 third seed, will be traveling about 33 miles for the game.

In contrast, Bellwood’s neighbor, Tyrone, will be playing about 90 miles from its home at Armstrong High School in Kittanning for its Class 3A girls matchup with District 7 second seed Beaver. That game will be at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by another Class 3A girls quarterfinal, pitting District 6 top seed Cambria Heights against District 7 champ Mohawk at 7:30 p.m.

The Bishop Guilfoyle girls, the D6 2A champ, will head to Williamsport Area High School on Friday at 7 p.m. to face District 2 champ Old Forge, and the District 6 1A champion Bishop Carroll boys will be at Hempfield High School in Greensburg for a 7:30 p.m. matchup with District 7 second seed Cornell.
