CH boys fall to LV

LIGONIER — For three quarters, the Cambria Heights boys basketball team had No. 1 seed Ligonier Valley on the ropes Friday night in the District 6 3A quarterfinals.

However, a 20-10 showing in the fourth quarter by the Rams proved to be too much as the Highlanders saw their season end, 59-50, to finish at 11-13.

The Rams (22-2), who got 22 points from Michael Marinchak, led 17-15 after one quarter, and just 31-27 at the break. Heights really had the home team a little nervous when it outscored Valley, 13-8, in the third quarter, making it 40-39 in favor of the Highlanders.

“The difference in the game in the fourth quarter was turnovers and missed opportunities,” Cambria Heights coach Eric Nagel said.

However, the 10-point difference in the fourth quarter helped the Rams to the victory. Matthew Marinchak added 18 points for the winners.

The Highlanders wound up with 24 points from Preston Lamb.
