Lady Hornets fall in FH title game

H.S. girls basketball

SIDMAN — Juniata Valley came up short in overtime in a 64-59 loss to host Forest Hills at the Forest Hills Tip-Off Classic on Saturday night in high school girls basketball action.

Senior Halee Smith was tops for the Lady Hornets, grinding out 27 points with 11 field goals, including two 3-pointers, which helped her surpass 1,500 career points. Hayden Taylor had 12 points for Juniata Valley.

Jordyn Smith had 15 points to lead the Lady Rangers, while Maddie Cecere added 11 points.

In consolation action, Central Cambria rebounded from a loss Friday to top Penns Valley, 59-38.

NANTY GLO — Glendale won the championship of the Blacklick Valley Lady Viking Tip-Off Tournament by edging Blacklick Valley in the final.

Tournament MVP Kyla Campbell delivered 19 points and 14 rebounds for Glendale, all-tourney selection Olivia Reese had 19 points and 12 rebounds, Lilley Vereshack collected nine points and 11 rebounds, and Alyssa Sinclair added nine points and 13 rebounds.

Maria McConnell scored a game-high 21 points for Blacklick and was on the all-tourney team with teammate Emily Marines.
