Carroll holds off Ridge for victory

EBENSBURG — The Bishop Carroll boys basketball team opened its season on Thursday night with a 79-70 win over Chestnut Ridge in high school action.

The Huskies, who were tied at 25-all at halftime, got 35 points from Tristan McDannell to go with 14 from Nolan Burk and 10 points from Jordan Bobroski.

Chestnut Ridge, which fell to 0-2, got 19 points from Matt Whysong, 18 points from Kamden Clapper and 13 points from Isaac Little.

CRESSON — Jake Tsikalas led a balanced attack with 14 points while Carter Smith added 11 points in Penn Cambria’s win at home over Forest Hills.

The Panthers, who led 28-7 after one quarter, improved to 3-1.

The Rangers (0-3) got 15 points from Zach Myers.

The Black Knights, who got eight points from Ethan Webb, fell to 0-3.
