Lady Tigers playing Palmyra at 6 p.m. Saturday

The District 6 Class 5A basketball champion Hollidaysburg girls will take on the seventh seed from District 3, Palmyra, at the Altoona Area High School Fieldhouse on Saturday at 6 p.m. The time was originally 4 p.m.

In Class 3A boys action, Central Cambria’s game time against Seton LaSalle at Peters Township High School has been changed to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Tyrone swimmers place

UNIVERSITY PARK — Jacob Decker, Fiona McConnell and Madison Coleman were the top Tyrone swimmers this past Saturday at the District 6 2A Swimming and Diving Championships held at Penn State.

McConnell finished third in the girls 100 breaststroke with a school-record time of 1:12.78. Coleman finished third in the girls 100 freestyle (56.71) while Decker was third in the 100 backstroke (59.81).

Other Tyrone swimmers to compete included Matt Lenze, who took fourth in the boys 100 breaststroke (1:06.43), Mae Decker who took sixth in the girls 500 freestyle (5:59.27) and the 100 backstroke (1:05.87), along with Sarah Hoover in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.94). Cate Baran was 10th in the 100 backstroke (1:09.07).

Pro wrestling dates

Phoenix Pro Wrestling will be appearing locally several times throughout the rest of the year, including at the Johnstown Tomahawks’ game March 16 and following the Altoona Curve game on Aug. 18.

Lion player up for honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Penn State Altoona men’s basketball senior guard/forward Ishimeal Nance was announced as one of the players entered into the fan vote for the 2018 Reese’s Division III College All-Star Game.

Voting will take place on the front page of D3Hoops.com, starting at noon today and running through noon on Thursday.

Mount closes season

Cresson — The Mount Aloysius College women’s bowling team closed its season with a second-place finish in Buffalo, N.Y. on Saturday. Medaille College took home the win.

Top scorers on the day for Mount Aloysius were Rayissa Amon 21.6 average for 38 frames, Casey Schaffer 18.1 for 20 frames and Michelle Bello 17.2 for 32 frames.

PSU swimmer advances

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Penn State junior Hector Garcia Boissier punched his ticket to the NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships by winning the 3-meter springboard at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships Monday afternoon in Rutgers Aquatic Center.


Tom McConnell is the head coach of the IUP women’s basketball team and was named PSAC West Coach of the Year recently.
