Bedford stuns McCort
BEDFORD – Jaden Fuller scored one of two free throws with 5 seconds left to lift Bedford to a stunning upset of previously unbeaten Bishop McCort, 45-44, in high school girls basketball on Wednesday.
“The best comment that I can give you is that it was a team effort,” said Bedford coach Mark Dillow, whose team improved to 7-8 overall and 4-2 in the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference Section 2. “In games past, we kind of relied on Allison Shuke for our scoring, but everybody stepped up to the plate and everybody contributed. We also played good, solid defense – phenomenal defense.”
Shuke and her sister, Lindsay, shared team scoring honors for Bedford with 13 points, while Kayla Dawson added 10.
McCort (17-1, 5-1) got a game-high 23 points from Haley Thomas.
