Extra work pays off for Wyant

Athlete of the week achievement: Wyant had 24 service points, including 12 aces, in a three-game sweep over Forest Hills, and he added 15 kills in a three-game sweep over DuBois.

Season update: Wyant, who has helped the team to a 9-2 record so far, is averaging 11 kills, 10 service points and three aces per game.

Coach Ken Wyant quote: “He is putting in the time. He played in the offseason and he played club ball. I think the extra time and extra repetition in the gym are clicking and it’s paying off for him now. (As his dad) It’s extremely fulfilling and rewarding and you are proud, but at the same time, you want to keep pushing your kids. As my wife says, I am harder on my own kids than the others.”
