Athlete of the Week: Swank aids in Portage success

Athlete of the week achievement: Swank helped Portage go 4-0 for the week. Swank threw a two-hitter and struck out seven in a 12-2 win over Conemaugh Township and added a home run and three RBIs. She had 18 strikeouts, two hits and an RBI in a 7-4 win over Windber, and she had four hits and two RBIs and was the winning pitcher for Portage in a 19-3 win over North Star. She added three strikeouts in Portage’s 10-4 triumph over Penn Cambria.

Season update: Swank is hitting better than .500 with 24 RBIs and has scored 28 runs for the 16-4 Lady Mustangs. In the circle, she’s 8-2 and has struck out 158 batters in 99-plus innings while walking only 17.
