Niebauer’s patience pays off

Athlete of the week achievement: Niebauer won the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference girls individual title with a time of 20:14, topping second-place Ellie Dorian of Westmont Hilltop by 10 seconds.

Season update: Niebauer heads into the District 6 meet this weekend hoping to improve on a third-place finish as a freshman and qualify for states for the second year in a row.

Coach Randy Wilson’s quote: “That was a tough meet on Wednesday on a hilly course and a hot day. The lead kept changing hands, but she stayed right at the front, and when she decided to make her move, she made it stick. She’s been working hard since last cross country season was over, and she’s been grinding out workout after workout, and it’s awesome to see it all come together for her.”
