Athlete of Week: Dubler making name for himself

Name: Suds Dubler

School: Glendale

Age: 15

Grade: Sophomore

Sport: Wrestling

Athlete of the week achievement: Dubler won the 126-pound championship and repeated as champion in the Grove City Fred Bell Tournament, while also leading his team to a second straight team title. He also won two matches in two dual-meet victories earlier in the week.

Season update: Dubler is 21-4. The 13-1 Vikings are the No. 1 seed for the District 6 Class 2A Team Duals, which begin tonight.

Coach Billy Dubler’s quote: “I think it’s really fitting that Solomon “Suds” Dubler was named after Suds Solomon from the Altoona Mirror, and 11 years later he is Athlete of the Week. Suds really put together a nice tournament at Fred Bell and beat some really tough kids, including state-place winner Connor Pierce from Harbor Creek.”
