Athlete of the week achievement: Weakland was the MVP of the Cambria Heights Lady Highlanders Christmas Tournament. She scored 14 points in a first-round win over Johnstown and then scored 34 points in a 76-41 championship win over Purchase Line.

Season update: Weakland is averaging 16.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.9 steals and 3.3 assists while shooting 78 percent from the foul line.

How I got my start in basketball: “I saw my older sister shooting around and doing moves, and I thought it was cool, so I asked her to teach me what she was doing. It took off from there.”

Future goal: Play basketball in college while earning my degree to become an orthodontist
