Lady Mounties get ‘Thal’-out effort from senior in playoffs

Sport: Softball

Athlete of the week achievement: Thal, P-O’s catcher and leadoff hitter, went 6-for-9 in two games with three runs and three RBIs. P-O defeated Delone Catholic, 7-1, in the PIAA Class 3A first round and South Park, 8-6, in the quarterfinals.

Season update: Thal is hitting .462 this season with five home runs and 33 RBIs.

Coach Jim Gonder’s quote: “Kylie’s always been a good defensive catcher. This year, she worked hard in the offseason and at practices to become a better hitter. She’s really starting to come through in the clutch for us, and that’s because of her hard work.”

Future goal: Become an orthopedic physician’s assistant after studying at Lock Haven University. Also to win a state championship in softball.
