Athlete of the week achievement: Mowry recorded back-to-back shutouts in goal for the Lady Bisons, shutting out Schuylkill Valley and Waynesburg Central to help Bedford reach the PIAA Class 2A semifinals.

Season update: Bedford is 23-0 and will play District 10 champion Mercyhurst Prep today in the semifinals. Mowry had seven saves against Schuylkill and 12 against Waynesburg Central.

Coach Jeff Thomas’ quote: “From the start of the season until right now she keeps improving. We told her she has the right build for a goalkeeper, good height, good hands and it’s showing now. She’s made saves with her feet and hands, and is getting better all season. She is becoming more of a vocal leader back there, and she’s just getting comfortable and building confidence.”
