Penn State women collapse in second half

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Penn State women’s basketball team was up 52-41 at halftime, but was outscored 55-26 in the second half en route to a 96-78 loss at Iowa Thursday afternoon in Big Ten action at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The Lady Lions did set a single-game record with 14 made 3-pointers in the loss. Ten of Penn State’s 14 three-pointers came in the first half, but the tale of two halves was the opposite in the second as it was Iowa who went off for 11 treys in the term to come back for the victory.

Freshman Maddie Burke led Penn State with 20 points behind six 3-pointers, while also adding eight rebounds. Sophomore Anna Camden finished with a career-best 18 points in addition to her seven rebounds.

Senior Niya Beverley and sophomore Shay Hagans added 13 points apiece.

Caitlyn Clark scored 17 of her game-high 32 points for Iowa in the fourth quarter.

Penn State remains on the road to face Nebraska Sunday at 3 p.m.
