PSU’s Wade leaving for NFL

Penn State starting safety Lamont Wade recently announced on Twitter that he will head to the NFL instead of returning to the football team for 2021.

Wade, who started his career as a All-BTN.com freshman team pick in 2017, was a team captain and starter in 2020 and earned All-Big Ten honorable mention honors in 2019.

Wade could have played a fifth season because of the free year of eligibility that the NCAA granted all athletes because of the coronavirus pandemic, but instead elected to enter the draft, which will be held April 29-May 1.

A native of Clairton, Wade joins up with Jayson Oweh, Shaka Toney and Pat Freiermuth as Nittany Lions who will enter the draft.
