Tough night for PSU Altoona women against D-II opponent

LOCK HAVEN — The Penn State Altoona women’s basketball team fell behind 26-4 after one quarter of play Tuesday night en route to an 82-49 loss to Lock Haven University in collegiate action.

The Lady Lions (1-2) — a Division III program — were led offensively by Sydney Snyder, who finished with 14 points. Teammate Alexis Cannistraci added 11 points in a game Lock Haven (2-2) led, 38-12, at halftime.

Division II Lock Haven, which opened the game up 11-0, got 18 points from Marena Lonardi, 14 points and 13 rebounds from Jaynelle Robinson and 12 points from Rileigh Devine.

Penn State, which hit on just 27 percent from the field, returns home this Saturday for a 2 p.m. tipoff against Bethany College.
