PSU swimmer comes up short
OMAHA, Neb. — Penn State men’s swimmer Michael Daly recently finished seventh in the U.S. Olympic Trials finals with a 4:19.05 in the 400 IM in the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
He became the first Penn State American men’s swimmer to compete in the U.S. Olympic Trials finals since Nittany Lion Patrick Schirk swam in the 100– and 200–back events in 2008.
Daly set a personal best 4:17.65 in the 400 IM Sunday morning to qualify for the finals. He dropped nearly two full seconds off his previous top long course mark to advance to Sunday night’s 400 IM final.
