UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State junior guard Sam Sessoms was approved for an NCAA waiver and will participate in the 2020-21 season for the men’s basketball program.
The 6-foot-0, 187-lb guard from Philadelphia was the America East Rookie of the Year as a freshman and two-time all-conference pick at Binghamton. Sessoms joined the Nittany Lions roster in spring 2020 after playing his first two seasons at Binghamton.
Sessoms averaged 19.4 points per game to lead all scorers in the America East Conference in 2019-20 and also led the Bearcats in assists and steals for two seasons.
He owns Binghamton records for single-game scoring, field goals and 30-plus point scoring games.
Sessoms became the fastest to reach the 1,000-career point scoring mark at Binghamton, reaching the milestone in only 57 games.
The Big Ten and Atlantic Coast Conferences announced plans for the 2020 ACC/Big Ten Challenge with Penn State men’s basketball traveling to Virginia Tech for a Tuesday, Dec. 8 contest.
The game will be broadcast on the ESPN Network.
Penn State and Virginia Tech have met three times previously in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge with this year’s game the first to be played in Blacksburg, Virginia. The Nittany Lions have won five of their last six ACC/Big Ten Challenge games.
