Team stat leaders: Lenny Moore rushed for 601 yards and also intercepted 3 passes; Tony Rados passed for 1,025 yards; Jim Garrity caught 30 passes for 349 yards

Neil Rudel’s take: Rados became the Lions’ first 1000-yard passer, breaking his own season record of 925 yards set in 1952. Sophomore Lenny Moore rushed for a team-high 601 yards and also led the Lions in kickoff and punt return yardage. Receiver Jim Garrity’s, Gregg’s dad, was the top receiver with 30 catches. After opening the season with losses at Wisconsin and Penn, Lions won six of their last seven games, the lone loss 20-19 to fifth-ranked West Virginia.
