Neil Rudel’s take: The Lions’ three losses were at No. 8 Miami, Army and unranked Maryland — the first time they’d lose to the Terps and the last time until 2014. The game at Miami (in the Orange Bowl) was shown via closed circuit TV at Rec Hall and Schwab Auditorium. Dave Robinson became the first Black to play in the Gator Bowl, and he was the player of the game, leading the Nits to their third-straight bowl victory, a blowout over Bobby Dowd-coached Georgia Tech. For the second straight year, Williamsburg’s Galen Hall was the Lions’ leader in passing yardage.
