Neil Rudel’s take: Nittany Lion Club organized with designated levels for preferred seating and parking … 9-2 season included losses to Syracuse and Pitt after Nits climbed as high as No. 7 by midseason … The 20-18 loss to Syracuse at Beaver Field set an attendance record (34,000), included a 100-yard kickoff return by Roger Kochman (pronounced Kaufman), but Lions missed an extra point and a pair of 2-point conversions … Last game, vs. Holy Cross (46-0 win) played at Beaver Field … Lions won Liberty Bowl, beating Alabama in Philadelphia. Galen Hall hit Kochman for a TD off a fake field-goal formation.
