Neil Rudel’s take: The Lions lost their second game of the season to Villanova in a game played at Allentown High School, then fell to No. 3 Michigan State 32-21 before a Beaver Field record 30,321 fans. The three other home games each drew less than 18,000. Because of the Korean War, the PSU athletic board voted to make freshmen eligible, but the decision would last just one year.
