PSU basketball lands recruit over 12 others
Penn State picked up a basketball recruit Monday night with the verbal commitment of TaQuan Woodley of Camden, N.J. for the 2021-2022 season.
Multiple websites reported Woodley picked the Nittany Lions over a dozen schools, including Rutgers, Temple, Georgia, North Carolina State, South Carolina and Indiana.
The 6-foot-7, 235-pound Woodley averaged eight points and 10 rebounds per game as a junior this past season.
He told the Philadelphia Inquirer he had a “good vibe” from Penn State “from the jump. It was all love with the players, the coaches. I knew it was the right place for me.”
Camden finished 29-1 this season, losing only to Philadelphia’s Roman Catholic, and won the South Jersey Group 2 title game over Haddonfield on March 10.
Penn State’s incoming 2020 commits is at four right now plus one transfer. The freshman recruits include D.J. Gordon, Caleb Dorsey and Valdir Manuel, all from Pennsylvania, and Dallion Johnson, out of Massachusetts. The one transfer is Sam Sessoms from Binghamton University.
