Nittany Lions pick up three commits but lose key LB prospect
Penn State has had a busy recruiting weekend, landing three players since Friday night but losing a big one, as well.
The latest news came Saturday night when four-star linebacker Derek Wingo decommitted from PSU and then committed to Florida.
It was yet another big loss for the Nittany Lions, who saw three players decommit from the class of 2020 last week.
Prior to Wingo’s announcement, the news had been good for Penn State.
The Lions held a big recruiting camp this weekend, and it paid off beginning Friday with a pair of players committing.
Four-star receiver Jaden Dottin picked PSU on Friday.
The 6-foot-3, 170-pounder is ranked as the No. 44 receiver in the country and No. 3 recruit out of Connecticut. He’s from Suffield Academy in Suffield, Conn., and also received interest from Pitt, Michigan, Michigan State, Syracuse, Clemson and Maryland.
Also on Friday, cornerback Ji’Ayir Brown from Lackawanna Community College announced he’d chosen Penn State. Brown, who’s 6-foot, 203 pounds, also received interest from Maryland and Kent State.
The Lions got another commitment Saturday from 6-3, 270-pound defensive tackle Fatorma Mulbah from Susquehanna Township High.
The Harrisburg native does not have any recruiting stars but has drawn interest from Maryland, Ohio State, Rutgers, Temple and UConn.
