Penn State gets offensive tackle commitment

Penn State picked up the 14th verbal commitment for its 2017 football recruiting class on Sunday when three-star offensive tackle Des Holmes of Cardinal O’Hara announced he was choosing the Nittany Lions over Maryland on Twitter Sunday.

The 6-foot-6, 320-pound Holmes was flying under the radar under recently, picking up his scholarship offer from the Nittany Lions in late July. Pitt, Syracuse, Temple, Colorado State and Central Florida were among the other major programs to offer him – UCF pursued him as a defensive tackle.

Holmes is the fourth offensive lineman in this Lion recruiting class. He joins Pittsburgh Central Catholic guard C.J. Thorpe, Ohio guard Mike Miranda and New Jersey tackle Robert Martin.
