Bucs routed by Orioles
SARASOTA, Fla. — A six-run third inning propelled the Baltimore Orioles to a 13-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates in an exhibition baseball game Friday.
The loss dropped the Pirates to 0-6-1 in spring training.
Starter Hecto Noesi pitched two scoreless innings, throwing 28 pitches, 16 for strikes. Working in relief, Yacksel Rios struck out two in a scoreless inning of work.
Geoff Hartlieb was knocked around, giving up five earned runs on four hits and a walk in just two-thirds of an inning for the Pirates. Keona Kela, expected to close this season, gave up three earned runs on three hits in one inning.
Offensively, Colin Moran went 2-for-3 with a double for Pittsburgh. Baltimore (3-4) finished with 19 hits against eight Pirate pitchers.
The Pirates will host the Orioles today in Bradenton. Trevor Williams is expected to start with Steven Brault, J.T. Brubaker, Michael Felix, Chad Kuhl, Edgar Santana and Nik Turley to work in relief.
