Road to training facility closing during drilling operations work

BELLEFONTE — The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission announced that a pending construction project will result in the temporary closure of its H.R. Stackhouse Training Facility and surrounding areas that include portions of Fisherman’s Paradise, located in Benner Township, Centre County.

This closure will restrict access to one end of the Spring Creek Canyon Trail.

From June 10-21, a contractor will conduct well drilling operations to provide potable drinking water to both the H.R. Stackhouse facility and Bellefonte State Fish Hatchery. The H.R. Stackhouse property will house an upcoming class of PFBC Waterways Conservation Officer Trainees set to commence in late summer.

As a safety measure, the immediate area around the facility, including the parking lot, will be restricted. The public will be unable to park on the property or enter the north end of Spring Creek Canyon Trail from that location. The north entrance gate to the trail will remain closed during this time and signage will be posted to indicate the closure.

Anyone wishing to use the trail during this period can access the trail at the Benner Spring State Fish Hatchery, State Game Lands 333, or the Rock Road trail head.
