NCAA OK’s suspensions

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division I Cabinet on Wednesday approved emergency legislation that will severely penalize coaches and schools that sign, add to the roster or allow athletic participation by an athlete in any sport who transfers without first going through the portal process.
Penalties include a suspension of the head coach for 50% of a season and a fine amounting to 20% of that sport’s budget.
Golding gives response
Pete Golding responded to Clemson’s Dabo Swinney accusations of tampering from two months ago.
Golding recounted the acquisition of linebacker Luke Ferrelli from his perspective Tuesday. Ferrelli, a freshman from Cal, joined Clemson via the transfer portal in January but transferred to Ole Miss 20 days later. Golding explained that Ferrelli wanted to be at Ole Miss and took an available spot.
