Pitt football adds transfers at various positions
PITTSBURGH — With the University of Pittsburgh’s 2026 spring academic term underway and the transfer portal closed, Pitt football announced the enrollment of 16 transfer student-athletes who have joined the Panthers.
The transfer class includes:
Offense: Netinho Olivieri, OL, Penn; Carson Kent, TE, Oklahoma; Malik Knight, WR, Western Carolina; Keylen Davis, OL, Akron; Elijah Lagg, TE, UAB; La’Vell Wright, RB, Western Kentucky; and Holden Geriner, QB, Texas State.
Defense: Kanye Thompson, DB, Slippery Rock; Raion Strader, DB, Auburn; Jeremiah Warren, DL, Illinois; DeMarco Ward, LB, Memphis; Eliyt Nairne, DL, Tulane; and Alex Sanford Jr., LB, Purdue.
Special teams: Gabe Russo, P, Idaho State; Justin Schmidt, LS, Purdue; and Sam Hunsaker, K, Northern Arizona.
Elsewhere:
– Duke filed a lawsuit against quarterback Darian Mensah seeking to block his efforts to transfer and reach a contract with another school to play elsewhere next season. The university filed its complaint in Durham County Superior Court on Monday, three days after Mensah reversed his previously announced plan to return to the Blue Devils after leading them to the Atlantic Coast Conference title.
– Less than 24 hours after being crowned a national champion with Indiana, Alberto Mendoza, Fernando’s brother, announced his transfer to Georgia Tech. He announced his decision Tuesday in a joint Instagram post with the On3 transfer portal account.
