West Suburban softball team advances to LLWS championship
GREENVILLE, N.C. — The Johnstown West Suburban softball team, with eight of the 12 players attending schools in the Mirror coverage area, advanced to the Little League World Series championship game with a 4-0 victory over Tulsa, Okla., National on Saturday.
Johnstown, the Mid-Atlantic Regional champion, will face the Central Regional champ, Floyds Knobs (Ind.) Community Club, in Sunday’s 3 p.m. championship game. It will be televised live on ABC.
Cambria Heights School District student Reagan Bills was again a big factor for West Suburban on Saturday. She threw a four-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts and also knocked in the first run of the game in the top of the third inning.
Cambria Heights student Mara Keefe also had two hits and drove in a run.
