North Carolina State’s Leah Shackley, former member of the Blair Regional YMCA swim team, will be visiting the YMCA on Wednesday at 1 p.m. before heading back to school.

Shackley, who starred in high school at Bedford Area as well as a member of the BRY team, finished up her freshman year with the Wolfpack when she was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Year.

She also had a successful showing at the World University Games in Germany recently. She led Team USA, earning five gold and one silver medal. The sophomore broke three WUG records while in Berlin.

“I was a little concerned about my endurance coming into this meet because I have been competing nonstop since last August in Australia, so the outcomes here in Berlin were exciting,” she said.

Refreshments will be served by the YMCA during Shackley’s visit.
